Save your tears

We had our neighbor visiting us last week. During our interactions he noticed one book sitting on the book stand near our television. He was curious. My wife stepped in and told him that it was her brother’s work and he co-authored with another person. That is when it struck me that we are nearing Sept.

Sept 5th which is observed as teacher’s day since 2017 has become very nightmarish as we come across memories of my late brother-in-law. This time around I was looking forward to writing a tribute.

My younger daughter was very insistent that I should play this song, as her elder sister had shared it with her on WhatsApp. I asked her for the song and as I was typing it on Spotify I was wondering if this was the dedication for this year.

I don’t know why I run away
I’ll make you cry when I run away

Take me back ’cause I wanna stay
Save your tears for another
Save your tears for another day
Save your tears for another day

I was listening to the song and I recollected memories of my brother-in-law. We were sitting around the table and my younger daughter mentioned something and suddenly she said does that mean, ” You Live only once?” I asked my wife and she was telling me that she liked the movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and she brought the same just like that. My Brother in law’s writings and his command of the English language were commendable and he was destined for sure for something big in life. I resonated with Anand Mahindra who wrote today on the demise of a prominent Industrialist:

If life had other plans for him, so be it, but life itself should not have been snatched away from him.

Losing your loved ones is a deep chasm in our hearts and one that will hardly heal and that too, he was too young to go. Putting these lines today and sharing what is there in our hearts is liberating and we save our tears.
